We are a queer couple currently living in Orlando, Florida working hard to pick up and move across the country to California in June; a state that will make our life together safer in light of recent and impending legislative changes in Florida, making gender-affirming healthcare unsafe and possibly unattainable for Kara as a transwoman in the process of HRT. While we have both spent the time leading up to the move working 40-plus hour weeks, we have exhausted a majority of our resources. I (Chelsey) have been struggling with my usual full-time hours as a supervisor being cut in half since December last year, and haven't been able to start a new job due to school and my health coverage is linked to the current job. Living in Orlando while being faced with having to pay unexpected medical bills out of pocket has made it near impossible to have the amount needed to move with our two cats and our belongings in June, safely.

The amount we're asking for will help us to cover the cost of the moving truck or pod being shipped cross country, the gas required to drive our car, and the hotel costs for the one to two stops we will have to make along the way. We've priced out the trip and the funds, as we're asking for them, would cover the simplest move possible for the both of us. Any funds over the amount being asked for will go toward the costs of moving into our new home and settling into a new place while we gain stability.
