Joy has been my loyal, loving sidekick for the last 6 years. She is still young, playful, full of spunk, attitude, lots of love, and always lives up to her name: Joy! We have both gone through some of life’s most challenging moments together, but having each other is how we are able to pull through. Joy is the most resilient little almost-human boss pup, and it doesn’t matter how challenging a situation might be, she always leads with her JOY! She truly inspires me, especially right now!

Recently, we have been battling what we thought was a middle ear infection. I came home from work to find her eyes darting and her losing balance. Rounds of antibiotics temporarily improved her situation, but then it proceeded to get worse. I brought her to her dermatologist, who was able to find that Joy has a growing mass in her right ear. We do not know yet if this mass is cancerous or not, but we need to have it removed first to rid her of the pain and gain some of her balance back. Once removed, we can have the tumor biopsy done. Before we are able to begin any surgery, Joy needs a CT scan to be able to tell how far this mass has grown. I pray it is benign and just want to relieve my little dog of her pain.

Between the CT scan that involves anesthesia and the surgery itself, we are looking at close to $9000. I have already been working an unhealthy amount just to keep a roof over our heads since the price of rents in Florida have gone through the roof. Being a single female doing everything she can on her own, financially responsible for my life and my pup's life has become my greatest challenge yet. Joy and I are praying that by some miracle we can raise enough funds to be able to book her surgery appointments. We have a surgeon that we have already consulted with and an estimate of all the costs. As a part of their policy, I cannot book the appointments until a deposit is made in full. I need to book her surgery ASAP so this mass in her ear does not grow larger or spread, but most importantly, not continue to give her any pain.
