Donate to help John get a PS5

Hi, My name is Angie and we are raising money to purchase a PS5 Console (with a couple of disability accessories like a scuff pad if enough funds are raised).

John is autistic, severely disabled (including mobility, visual, and auditory issues. He has had several traumatic brain injuries contributing to various cognitive disorders including executive function delays, cerebal atrophy and delayed motor functions.

Our picture above us us and our dog Chinook in 2015 before everything went south for us. Since disability has taken over, we're aren't much on photographs. John in particular. He is still dealing with the grief of the loss of his mobility, loss of hearing, visual impairments and his best friend (Chinook), job security and everything else that the pandemic and more took from him.

John's big love is gaming. He loves Destiny 1 & 2, Horizon, Final Fantasy, COD and Borderlands! He also loved his job, photography and spending time with our husky and his best friend Chinook who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in Auguest 2023, right up to the beginning of the pandemic when his legs began to lose their mobility.

Since that time John has become housebound and isolated with the exception of me, our care giver and his gaming community that has kept him going despite the toll of his major despressive disorder and extreme social anxiety disorder.

The lack of appropriate supports from our local health authority has only served to further that isolation for him.

29/03/2024 John entered a contest on Twitch on GernaderJake's channel and won to opportunity to get a carry in the Destiny 2 game. It is almost 10 hours later and John is still shaking from the glee and anxiety. I cannot recall the last time I saw him so happy. So I wrote to Jake on John's behalf to say thank you and to tell him how much this all meant to John. I NEVER expected him to post my note to X (Twitter)! Yikes!

As a military vet, John uses gaming as therapy. Sometimes this takes every penny we have left in our cheque but we see his gaming as therapy and so it's never questioned in our house. It's simply just survival for John. No different than food or rent.

Roughly a year ago John's PS4 began making some awful noises and every since John has experienced panic attacks about what will happen if it dies entirely. He's reset it more times than I can begin to count. It's a constant source of panic and a depression activator for him now.

I too am severely disabled and due to the same lack of support from our local health authority am also unable to work. As such we are completely dependant upon government supports for everything, including housing and have no other income. Saving for a console is not an option despite the necessity.

Following up on the many requests of Jake's followers to set up a GoFundMe to support John getting a PS5, we are hoping that this will have a good turnout for us and in advance we say a massive thank you to Jake and all of the gaming community. Even if this ends up a bust, John will forever remember the day he got to play with his favorite content creator.

Jake, your Twitch channel is on in our office daily, like many people listen to the radio. I'm not sure, Jake if you will ever know how much just getting to play with you and GoldEagle really meant to him. Thank you for making him so happy.
