Hi my name is Alex Threet. I am raising funds to help our dear friends Joe and Penny Haley who lost everything in Hurricane Ian. They live in Bonita Springs and took a direct hit from the hurricane.
They had limited insurance. There was coverage for their home structure and vehicles but it was the dwelling only and did NOT cover the contents. They ran their business from their home. They lost everything related to their business and ALL of their income.
They ran Custom Aquascapes, A business that provides and manages fish Koi ponds and indoor fish tanks in businesses.
They had multiple ponds on their property where they bred and raised all of the fish used for their business. This is one pond before the hurricane hit.
Over $30,000 worth of fish were killed and all water plants washed away, 15 years of breeding to establish their stock & all of their ponds were destroyed.
this is what it looks like now.
All of their equipment they used for installing and cleaning ponds and tanks were destroyed. Sadly none of this was insured.
They had a loss of all of their personal property as well. Here is a picture of the water filled with floating furniture & debris rising up to the top of the stairs to their 2nd floor.
Obviously they were left without food, electricity or income. Their vehicles are under water so they have no transportation.
They have lost everything. They have no income to pay their living expenses, no foreseeable way to replace the needed equipment & stock to reopen their business. They are at a complete loss of what to do next and at the same time Joe has serious health conditions to contend with as he is recovering from a stroke.
I want to tell you that these people are just wonderful human beings who have gone out of their way to help anyone that needed it. I am the president of the Robertson County, Tennessee Foster Parent Association. I run the angel tree program for the foster kids. Joe and Penny have provided for Several children every year. They are the kindest and most deserving people that you could meet. It breaks my heart to see them suffering so badly right now. I want to give back to them like they have always done for other people. If you can spare a few dollars to donate to help them get back on their feet I would greatly appreciate it. I would also ask that you keep them in your prayers along with all of the other people suffering so badly in Florida right now.
