My name is Jim and I love dogs. I started working at a doggy daycare in 2021 and it was immediately a dream of mine to open my own. Puptopia is the realization of that dream. My partner Katie and I have worked so hard to open this daycare and WE ARE SO CLOSE! We just need a little help.

But first I want to tell you about myself and my daycare dream. Dogs and I understand each other. I understand their body language and I know how to get through to them. 10 years with my own anxious dog has given me a set of skills fine tuned to creating the kind of structure that allows dogs to feel safe and confident, which is the kind of environment where dogs let their guard down and allow themselves be their truest, weirdest selves and play.

My philosophy for dog daycare is that less is more. We'll focus on small group play in a low stress environment. That also means they'll all get some one on one attention with the staff, and that we'll never crowd the daycare or cycle the dogs in and out of crates just to make more money. There will be no crates at Puptopia. On top of that, I won't just own the daycare, I will be there every day, running the place.

The daycare itself is an open space, with a small area gated off for puppy breaks and human only activities. Consider a rowhome first floor with no walls or barriers separating the front door to the back. I plan on customizing the space as I spend time with the dogs and recognize chances to enrich the experience for them. I already have ideas for a catwalk exclusive for smaller dogs.

This isn't just something I'm good at, it is something that makes me feel fulfilled. Seeing them happy and playing makes me feel whole and knowing they feel safe with me feels like I'm doing something cosmically important.

I am in the process of finalizing all of the necessary paperwork and space improvements to turn our location into the perfect doggy playspace that the pups will be dreaming about.
