Friends and Family,
We are asking for support for one of our favorite humans, my brother-in-law Jim Hait. He’s a pillar to his community and friends in Bend Oregon. He’s a rock for his wife Emily, daughter Serenity, and a beloved uncle to seven nieces and two nephews. Not to mention the most amazing son-in-law to my aging mother, never ceasing to be the best support to her and our family. He is a builder of beautiful homes and a wonderful man who always lends a helping hand. Now it’s our turn to give him a hand.
Jim’s health continues to decline. Since July 6th, he’s had four admissions into the hospital totaling 47 days and counting. During his third visit, he had major surgery (9 hours) to remove a portion of his colon and reconstruction of his bladder. His fourth and most recent hospitalization was for sepsis. His health continues in complexity. In two weeks, he will be going to OHSU in Portland which is three hours from his home for another surgery.
Emily is his primary caregiver with wound care, medication management, and patient advocacy, doing all of this with patience, love and support. With the constant changing in the day to day it doesn’t allow Emily the time for consistent work as a hairdresser.
Jim’s critical health issues are resulting in his inability to work for the remainder of the year. With increasing medical bills, loss of income, and upcoming travel to Portland these unforeseen circumstances are taking a financial burden. Insurance does not cover 20% of bills.
Many loved ones have reached out seeking ways to help. Your contribution made today will help ease the stress of bills and allow Jim and Emily the time to heal. Thank you for any assistance you are able to give. We all appreciate it!
