Hi everyone, my name is Heather Dirksen and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my sister Jill. Jill works two jobs just to make ends meet. Four months ago, she finally saved up and paid $16,000 for a reliable used 2016 Chevy Equinox (she still owes Ally almost $16,000 on the loan). On October 23, 2025, she stopped at Take 5 Oil Change on North May Ave in OKC for a simple oil change and coolant service. They charged her $260.99. The second she started the car in their bay, the “low oil pressure” warning flashed and the car started dinging constantly. The technician told her it was “just a bad sensor” and specifically instructed her to drive it to O’Reilly Auto Parts for a diagnostic check. She did exactly what they told her. At O’Reilly, the car sounded terrible. She called Shepherd Automotive right from the parking lot; they told her to stop driving immediately and have it towed to their shop. The next day, Shepherd called with the news: the engine was bone-dry — Take 5 had drained the oil and never put any back in. It wasn’t repairable and needed a full replacement. Today, November 20, 2025, Farmers Insurance officially declared it a total loss. Take 5 has admitted fault but has only offered $10,199 — nowhere near enough. Jill asked for a reasonable $16,500 to be made whole and they refused to budge even $1. They also stopped paying her rental car and storage fees and still haven’t refunded the original $260. Because of this, Jill now has to come up with at least $4,000 out of pocket for:
• $1,000 Farmers Insurance deductible
• $1,000 GAP insurance deductible
• Down payment on a replacement car
• Title, tax, tags, and registration fees in Oklahoma
Her son and daughter-in-law have graciously offered a car for her to borrow in the meantime, however she needs to get her own car as quickly as possible. Every single dollar raised (after GoFundMe fees) will go directly to Jill to cover these costs and get her back in a safe, reliable car so she can keep working her two jobs without falling behind. If you can give $10, $20, or more — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you can’t donate right now, please share this page.
Thank you,
Heather Dirksen
