Donate to help Jess Cox with her medical expenses

Hi, I'm one of the owners of CrossFit New Beginning, the CrossFit Box where Jess has trained for almost four years. Our CrossFit community is raising funds to help with Jess's upcoming medical expenses.

Jess's Story ... In January this year, doctors discovered Jess had a blood clot in her foot. After spending weeks trying to save her foot, doctors delivered Jess the news that her foot and the lower part of her leg would need to be amputated.

After recovering from the initial shock and anger, Jess became determined to move forward and continue life with the grit and determination she is known for! She threw herself into her rehab and was back in the gym within weeks, focussing on her upper-body strength and prioritising her rehab exercises. She even signed up to do the CrossFit Open as an adaptive athlete in a wheelchair only months after her amputation! What an incredible young woman!

Jess's hard work paid off as her recovery was quick and doctors soon had her fitted for her new prosthetic leg. Whilst her new leg took some getting used to, Jess was determined to make the most of everything! From workouts in the gym to parties out with friends, life had started to get back to "normal."

However, things have a tendency not to go to plan for Jess. Several weeks ago, Jess was told there was a complication with her amputation and her doctors were unsure of a road forward. Her prosthetic leg was removed and they are currently playing a "wait and see" game to determine the next course of action.

This has left things up in the air for Jess. What she does know is there will be further surgery required. What that surgery entails is unknown. She also knows that the out-of-pocket expenses of the surgery are likely to be high. And of course, it's not just this surgery. There is potentially a lifetime of unknown medical expenses ahead.

At just 19 years of age, Jess has had more than her share of challenges and yet anyone who knows her just sees the smiling, bubbly person she always is! Jess approaches life with incredible positivity and shares that with those around her. It's now time for us to rally around her and help her live life to the fullest!
