Hello everyone, and thank you for taking the time to read through our fundraiser.
My partner (Jenny) and I have been going through a pretty rough struggle financially, and it was a turn of events that was completely out of our hands to prevent, so a little backstory is warranted.
Back in November of 2024, my partner had been working for a Pet Salon/Grooming boutique shop. She had been working with the business as an Independent Contractor for 5+ years and several years with another shop prior, so she had a career in the Pet Grooming field for over 8+ years in general.
We were contacted in late November '24 by the new owner of the business, who had only had ownership for less than 2 years at this point, and we were told that she was closing the doors to the business due to the lack of clientele during that point (this was the story we were told anyway).
We later found out that wasn't the truth.
Among dealing with stress at work, she was also dealing with tight scheduling around work to fit in doctor's appointments that were desperately needed during the time, getting her prepared for a complicated Quality of Life surgery with multiple procedures, which we were finally able to get done on June 19th, 2025. But due to the timing of Jen having been laid off from work and getting prep appointments made for this surgery, it left little room for any means of getting immediate work as she was already dealing with more than her fair share of pain on a daily basis at this point and the procedure needed to be done.
Also, with the timing of all of this happening, there were bills signed by President Trump that essentially took away all of our local benevolence programs such as Emergency Rental Assistance (ERAP), among other essential local programs.
I myself am stuck on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) due to blindness. I only make roughly $900 a month, and with paying $825 a month for rent, you can see where the problem is without that extra income in the house now.
We have an agreement with our landlord, who is also our local Sheriff, and he has been gracious enough to have us only pay a portion of the rent due to the nature of the situation and being aware of the details as they unfolded for us all.
With that agreement, we are due to pay $400 each month, and the rest gets added to "back rent" and we pay it back as we possibly are able.
That's where things are hitting us the hardest. We are now nearly a whole year later, and there has been absolutely no possible help to get us back ahead or even close to caught up to break even.
All of our remaining funds go to what we can afford for Household necessities, Internet bill that's roughly $120 ea. month which powers most of the lighting for assistance with my blindness in our house at night, Pets' needs, and any co-pays insurance doesn't cover on prescription meds needed.
We are behind $425 x 10 months for an estimated total of $4,250+ as we roll into the month of October.
We have pets that are basically our children, and every bit that we can manage outside of household necessities goes to providing for our pets, which for us is more important than anything.
Our kids deserve at least that much, as each were all rescues at the time we brought them into our home, one more importantly being Beau, who is now an elderly dog who was Jen's (now retired) Service dog for 6+ years, and we made a promise that by any means they will all be cared for and provided for.
So here we are, if you're still reading to this point, I thank you again greatly for taking the time.
We are only asking for your help with donations enough to help us get back to a stable standing point with our rent so we will be able to afford our household essentials and pets' needs.
Now that Jen has been healing from her surgery and cleared to go back to work, but with some restrictions added by her doctor due to the nature of the surgery, she has been actively posting job submissions and trying to get work set up again.
If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to message us, and we will gladly clarify any information about our situation.
