Hello, my name is Eric Rentrop. My Parrain is Jaret Matte. In December, doctors found a mass in his cerebellum near the brain stem. Over the next few weeks, my Parrain and my Aunt Tallie went through consultations, the removal of the mass, and eventually receiving the pathology results. The results of the pathology were not what we were hoping for. He has brain cancer, a Diffuse Midline Glioma Grade 4. It is treatable but, unfortunately, not curable. Prognosis is not good, however he has age and faith on his side. He will undergo treatment at MD Anderson. Radiation will be 5 days a week for 6 weeks. Treatment after radiation is TBD. They both will be out of work for an unknown length of time and basically living in Houston while he undergoes treatment. Many people have reached out wanting to help so starting this page will allow that in hopes of helping them with the unexpected expenses of the days ahead. We believe that my Parrain will fight this, but obviously our family has been devastated by this news. He is the most stand-up family man you will ever meet. His kind-heartedness and joyous demeanor has always been something that I have admired about him. He is a great friend to all; a great son for his parents, Farley and Clonia; a great brother to his two sisters, Tonya and Amie; a great godfather and uncle to all his nieces and nephews; a great husband to my Aunt Tallie; and a great father to his two children, Ethan (12) and Farlie (8). His high energy attitude is as infectious as his smile and he never fails to light up the room. He is always so happy to see his family, and will never hang up the phone without telling you he loves you. For this to be happening to someone like my Parrain is one of the more perplexing things that I have ever experienced in my life. I believe in Gods plan and I believe in the generosity of others.
