This GoFundMe account was created to aid with Janette Plancarte’s recovery from retina detachment and diabetic retinopathy surgery. On April 7, 2022, Janette underwent emergency eye surgery to halt the excess oil production and bleeding, which have been pooling in her eye, causing her to go blind. Unfortunately, during a follow-up check only a few days after her first surgery, her eye specialist noticed that the bleeding and oil production had commenced again causing her intense pain and elevated eye pressure. Her specialist informed her that she would need to undergo the same eye surgery a second time in hopes of a better outcome. The second surgery took place on April 13, 2022. However, a mere two days later, Janette began to experience pain and eye pressure once again, which resulted in her doctor changing her medicine to hopefully help her heal properly. Regrettably, that action has not proved effective, since her eye pressure has not dropped and bleeding has yet to cease. In an effort to continue trying to salvage Janette’s vision, her eye specialist has decided to perform surgery again on April 18th; this surgery is a bit different since a tube will be implemented into her eye to help with the draining of oil and blood. We are hopeful that this will be the third and final surgery for Janette. Her recovery will be long and can range from 6 months to a year. As we proceed on her surgical and recovery journey, her family has been greatly affected due to all of the surgeries and follow-up appointments. Janette is a hard-working mother of two, but due to her current medical condition, she had to leave her job. In addition, her husband has since lost his job for not being able to attend work as he has been taking care of Janette and their children. He has taken on the responsibility of taking care of her and making sure that she goes to every medical appointment, however, now they’re struggling to pay their rent, insurance payments, and bills.

 

We are creating this GoFundMe for Janette and her family and are hoping to raise $17,000 to help them during this long and challenging recovery period.
