Hi, we are the Freebury family.
On September 11, 2022, Jamie Freebury was at home after work, riding on his exercise bike in the family garage, when he suddenly experienced a severe headache. Several hours later, he was unconscious and in the hospital on a ventilator. Gratefully, our beloved Jamie is now at home after nine weeks of intensive in-hospital medical care. Jamie is fully conscious but has not yet recovered the ability to speak or move.
However, to recover his speech and movement, Jamie needs experienced help; these three months are our vital window of opportunity. Your support will bring specialized therapists and essential care during this critical time.
Jamie was born with hemiplegia, yet he has never let this define him. He was educated at the San Francisco Waldorf School, where his brave and curious nature was nurtured, and where he wrote music, played basketball, performed in plays, and made lifelong friends. He achieved a Masters's degree from the University of Chicago, traveled to and taught in Istanbul, and wrote the script for an award-winning short film contest. He created The Living Odyssey, memorizing and performing six books of Homer's work.
Jamie has worked for the De Young and Legion of Honor museums for the last five years. During lockdown, he co-created Social Distance Live promoting West Coast musicians.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for listening to Jamie's story and for assisting in his recovery.
