Our beloved friend Jamar needs our support! I’m creating this fundraiser with the hope that you will join me in helping someone very special fight cancer.
Jamar is an exceptional human being who has overcome incredible obstacles and made many sacrifices. While battling cancer for many years, Jamar became a Fulbright grant recipient and earned a scholarship to study Mandarin in Taiwan. From the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program to research on Internet Addiction Disorder under leading authorities in the field, Jamar has made contributions to many scientific endeavors. He even impressed the First Lady of the United States, Mrs. Michelle Obama, whom he met while doing research in Beijing. He's a role model to his students and has always been crucial to their academic success even while dealing with his own health issues.
I personally had the pleasure of meeting Jamar while doing research at Queens College. Jamar and I would often cross paths at the gym as well and we always had smiles to share. I also had the pleasure of spending time with his amazing grandmother who couldn’t be more proud of him.
Jamar has suffered from reoccurring Medullary Thyroid Cancer and without surgery, his days are limited. Please consider helping Jamar by taking away the stress of these medical expenses and other needs that arise. For Jamar, offering help is easy; asking for help is hard. Donations will go towards his medical expenses and ease the burden of having to stop working during recovery. If 100 people donated $20 each it would cover the second surgery's expenses and help Jamar focus on his health. Any additional funds will help Jamar get back to NYC and spend time with his 100 year old great grandmother.
Jamar is one of the most highly motivated and inspirational people I've ever met. He is also a wonderful and kind human being, teacher, neighbor, scientist, grandson, son, and friend. We can’t let cancer rob us of someone who makes this world a better place.
Thank you for your support!
