Please consider spreading awareness by sharing our story and in donating to the “help Isaac beat rare cancer” fund to help little Isaac and his loving family fight cancer together. It has been one long nightmare since Friday, May 13th. Yes, you read that right Friday the 13th. As you can imagine it has been a very emotional and stressful day that only keeps stretching. Shocked about the news and concerned about the outcome and full of what-ifs.
It feels as if we’ve been sucked into a black hole and the last thing we need is additional stress over finances. Any donation over surpassing Isaac’s medical and personal expenses will be donated to other pediatric cancer children in need.
Isaac was born a healthy baby boy weighing 7lbs & 15oz on July 24, 2020. Fast forward to May 13, 2022 mom and dad took Isaac to his pediatrician’s office for a checkup because mom had noticed an unusual color in his stool a couple of days ago and dad noticed his belly felt hard. Isaac’s doctor listened to their concerns and examined little Isaac’s belly. She noticed something unusual, his liver felt enlarged and told mom to take Isaac to the ER asap.
What they thought might have been the outcome of something viral took a quick turn that day in the ER. Long story short back in April on Easter Day, Isaac and his family were sick with Covid like symptoms. Everyone recovered within 1-2 weeks except Isaac. A couple more weeks later passed but Isaac still wasn’t being much like himself and his appetite slowly worsened. At the ER they quickly found his liver enzymes were elevated. They ran more tests, an ultrasound, MRI, CT scans and blood tests which confirmed Isaac has a large tumor in his liver.
A note from mom:
Since 5/13 it has been what seems to be one long never-ending nightmare and on 5/16 was the day that has marked our lives forever, it was the day they confirmed Isaac’s biopsy results and the day they told us he has cancer. 5/16 was the day they told us that he will need chemo and have the tumor surgically removed and possibly even get a liver transplant.
Isaac is currently receiving treatment in the hematology/ oncology unit at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach.
Isaac’s AFP tumor marker measured greater than 200,000 and tumor measures about 15cm. Hepatoblastoma is a rare tumor (an abnormal tissue growth) that originates in cells in the liver. It affects about 1 in 1 million young children living in developed countries.
If you’ve read Isaac’s story so far, we thank you. Any prayer or (100) for Isaac is greatly appreciated. Our handsome boy is so brave and resilient. Despite what he’s going through he manages to put a smile on his face.
Cherish every minute with your loved ones, hug them and voice your love because you never know, life is a switch and can flip a 360 in a second. Kindness is more impactful than you realize. It is like a ray of light beaming into people’s lives regardless of their weather.
Isaac has a long road ahead. It’s going to be a long process but we have hope. With the help from both science and faith combined Isaac can beat this.
