Hi! Im Hanna, I have a condition called Topical Steroid Withdrawal. This condition comes from usage of topical steroids, which have been prescribed to me in mass amount since early childhood for eczema. I completely stopped using steroids a year ago after realizing I was dependent on them and they were no longer working, which was completely disregarded by doctors as I’ve been laughed at multiple times when looking for solutions. What was once a few small dry skin patches turned into a full body internal and external withdrawal. This is no longer eczema, my body has been reliant on steroids for so long, that it no longer knows how to function without them.

unfortunately, this condition can take several years to heal from. My every day reality includes waking up stiff, covered in blood, my skin cracked open and raw, extreme nerve pain, temperature regulation issues, insomnia, bone deep itching that does not go away, extremely flaking skin, and severe mental/emotional distress. I consider myself tough, but this is unlike anything I’ve ever felt or experienced. My pain level on average sits around a 7 or 8 on a scale of 1-10, with major flair ups being worse. There is truly no relief.

I have lived with this now for a full year. I’ve been unable to work, so I rely on my husband’s income. Treatment for this condition can be several thousand dollars and time consuming. My goal is to raise enough funds to go to Thailand (they have specialized care for this condition) for three months in order to receive treatment. CAP therapy is hard to find and doesn’t exist to the capacity I need it in the United States, which is why Thailand is my destination of choice. Not only that, but humid, tropical places are miracle healing spots for people with my condition. At the very least, I would get major relief from nerve pain and skin damage just simply by being in Thailand’s climate.

I don’t like asking for financial help, this is very much a last resort for me as I genuinely cannot function properly anymore and my inability to work has put me in a tough spot.
