Hi everyone,
My name is Haisem and I’m a 21 year old Eritrean trans person from The Bay. By day I’m an educator in special education and by night I work social events. I am also Covid conscious!
I’m reaching out with a lot of humility and hope. Over the last few months, I’ve been facing a really unstable housing situation that’s made it difficult to stay on my feet financially.
I’ve been pushed out of my home and living in temporary housing — constantly moving around — while still being responsible for my portion of rent at my original apartment as well as my other responsibilities.
Unfortunately, for the majority of my tenancy one of my roommates has been consistently late with their rent payments, requiring me to cover their rent in October, and I’m now deeply concerned that I’ll be left to cover their portion entirely to prevent eviction. This would be devastating on top of the extra costs I’m already carrying and I cannot navigate the fallout of an eviction on my record. I will also need funds when I am able to move, hopefully under better circumstances than eviction.
I’ve tried everything I can to manage this — keeping things to bare basics like not attending social events, working, budgeting tightly, and exploring all options — but I’m at the point where I must ask for help. I’m creating this GoFundMe to raise enough to cover:
* Back rent I may be held responsible for
* Temporary housing costs until I can get back into stable living
* Basic essentials like transportation (I do not have a car and work an hour away), food, and bills
* Moving costs for when I am able to move into a stable home
Every dollar helps, and if you’re not in a place to give, sharing this with would mean so much to me.
Thank you for reading and for supporting me during a really hard chapter of my life.
With gratitude,
Haisem
