Glizzy has been in the ICU for 5 days. He is unable to absorb the nutrients in his food and maintain healthy potassium levels. Therefore he needs to be on supportive care with these supplements injected. With this supplements he is at a healthy range but when doctors have tried weening him off of them, he is unable to sustain these healthy levels himself. With that being said, he cannot come home until he is able to. The doctors are hopeful for this new drug they introduced into his treatment plan called chlorambucil, a cancer drug. It takes 4-6 weeks to take effect but maybe even as early as 2 weeks. Chlorambucil has immense success treating dogs with similar cases to Glizzy’s. We just have to wait for the drug to take effect. But at this moment, If I take Glizzy home now then we are not sure how long he would last without supportive care. His ICU visit keeps getting extended and it is very costly. I have already paid $15,000 and met my threshold. I am asking for assistance to keep Glizzy in the ICU until he is staple enough to recover at home. Thank you in advance.
