Dear friends, family, and fellow animal guardians,

A week ago I rescued this sweet and beautiful kitty from a life on the street. He was thin, hungry, and muddied from the recent rains when I found him meowing in my backyard, and when I picked him up he immediately started purring. He had no collar, was not microchipped, and he was not fixed. I've posted his photo in the local and national "lost pet" listings and after a week there has been no response. My vet believes he is 2 years old and that although he is a stray he was clearly socialized at some point in his young life, perhaps when he was a kitten. We may never know his story but we have the chance to change the course of his life for the better. He is extremely affectionate, playful, and I've been fostering him in my studio (and away from my own two kitties) while I see about homing him.

However, he is in need of immediate medical treatment. Although the vet believes he is an overall healthy cat, he has two back teeth that are very badly infected and they cause him pain when he tries to eat, so he needs dental surgery right away. He also needs to be neutered but one of his testicles is retained and so he requires a slightly more complicated surgery to resolve this issue. He needs a series of X-rays of his hips and leg region to see why this area of his body seems to be causing him pain (and once we understand what is wrong, this will need to be medically addressed as well). Finally, he needs basic bloodwork and vaccinations.
