Hi, my name is Aisha, I'm from the UK.
I'm starting this fundraiser on behalf of my sister Ghada Al-Ajlah, from Gaza.
Her father Imad Arafa Al-Ajlah, her mother Naela Abdulkarim Al-Ajlah along with the remaining members of her family, desperately need your support.
Here are Ghada's own words and her story thus far:
I am Ghada, a Palestinian from Gaza, the city that embraced my childhood and simple dreams. I used to run through its alleys, laugh between its streets, and dream of a secure future within the walls of our small home. But the war left us with nothing. Everything changed in an instant, turning safety into fear, the home into rubble, and the dream into a mere memory.
We were displaced under the bombardment, again and again, searching for shelter, but we found ourselves in the open, with no roof to protect us or place to shelter us. We lived in tents, enduring conditions that are impossible to describe. We lacked the most basic necessities of life; water was scarce, food barely enough, and we spent long days suffering from hunger and thirst. The cold pierced our bodies at night, and the scorching sun burned us during the day. There was nothing to protect us from the harshness of the weather. Life in the tents became a daily struggle for survival.
Our home was more than just walls and a roof; it was our small world, full of memories and warmth. But the bombardment turned it into a pile of rubble, scattering years of labor and our unfulfilled dreams among the ruins. Every corner carried a story, and every story vanished beneath the debris, leaving behind a void that can never be filled.
Today, my family and I try to rebuild what is left of our lives, but it feels almost impossible in these difficult circumstances. We are a family of nine. My father is elderly and weakened by illness; he suffers from diabetes, nerve problems, and poor eyesight. My mother can no longer bear the weight of our burdens; she suffers from severe back pain and has developed a skin condition due to lack of healthcare. As for me, years of displacement have caused me to develop lung inflammation and chronic chest allergies due to cooking smoke in the tents. My sister suffers from ongoing stomach issues.
We have no provider, no income to help us secure even the simplest of needs. We can barely pay the rent or provide food, and winter worsens our suffering, with no warm clothes or blankets to protect us from the freezing cold.
Today, we stand on the edge of despair, living day by day, holding onto the hope that a compassionate hand will reach out to us, a hand that can help us overcome this ordeal. Any support, no matter how small, could be a lifeline for my family and give us a chance to live again.
