Hi world! My name is Amber Persilver. I am writing this on behalf of my father, Gene Persilver. For the past two years, my Dad has been battling colon cancer. While he has fought bravely, it pains me to say it is a battle that he is losing. He was in remission until August 2022, but the disease progressed quickly and has now spread to his brain, lungs, and spine. Unfortunately it has advanced so far throughout his spine, that he is now paralyzed from the waist down. Even now this is difficult for me to fathom, because I just watched him walk a month ago. I am losing my Dad at an alarming rate and the magnitude of grief that my family is suffering has been unimaginable. Unfortunately, due to how quickly all of this has unfolded, my family was not financially prepared for my dad's declining health. We are doing the best we can to cope and support each other, while also trying to set up the proper arrangements for what is to come. The doctors say it is only a matter of time before he passes, so I am doing everything in my power to help my family by raising money to help pay for all of the expenses. Watching a loved one die in this manner is something you can never truly prepare for until you are faced with it. The multitude of hurt, anger, love, compassion and fear has been a burden I wish no one ever has to bear. It is the worst part of living and I sincerely do not wish it on anyone.
