Donate to help fund Rosie's leg surgery!

Hi, my name is Claire, and I am fundraising to help my 8th-month-old puppy, Rosie, get surgery. I adopted Rosie at eight weeks and immediately fell in love. There was an accident in her litter when she was three days old that resulted in her back right leg getting amputated. When I took her to the vet for her wellness exam, they realized something was wrong with her other back leg. After months of appointments, it was determined that she would need surgery on her other hind leg to support her full-grown weight. I am a school social worker and would love to one day have Rosie as a therapy dog to help the high school students I work with. The amount of time and money this surgery will take will be very taxing.
I am asking for any support you can provide to help make sure Rosie has the best possible use of her back leg so she can have a long, healthy, happy life!

About Rosie
Rosie has been an adventurous gal since the start; she loves running around the yard, playing in the snow, going on walks at the park, and greeting anyone that comes in the door with her notorious excited bark! She also has the sweetest puppy dog eyes that will get you to do whatever she wants. As she grows into a full-size dog, she needs surgery to strengthen her back leg so she can continue to run, wrestle and play!

She loves her sister June, and you will see them snuggling up with each other any time they get!

Info from the surgeon about the surgery and cost breakdown
Rosie has a challenging deformity that developed as a result of having her right hind limb amputated at a very young age. As she grew, the bones of her remaining left hind limb adapted to the increased weight bearing of this paw that was placed more centrally under her body. Bones are very malleable in young puppies, which resulted in a tremendous angular deformity of her left tibia. Surgery is recommended to realign the tibia to normal, improve her weight bearing and function, and limit the progression of arthritis in these joints.
Surgery would involve cutting the tibia near the top, where the greatest bend is located, straightening and lengthening the bone using a neutral wedge procedure, and then using an interlocking nail placed down the center to hold the bone in this new position until it heals. We plan this surgery using a CT scan of her limb, design guides for the cut and alignment, and then 3D print the bones and guides. The surgery can be rehearsed using these bone models and the nail to test the fit prior to sterilizing all of these components for surgery. This virtual surgery and 3D printing process is unique to CSU and a few other select veterinary University hospitals, so Rosie is in good hands! However, it will take ~3 months for her bones to heal, with intensive physical therapy to help her adapt to this new position, so she has a long road ahead. This is a challenging path forward due to the complexity of the deformity, but important as this is her only back leg. Rosie is an amazing young dog with a motivated mom and surgery team, which are key components for success.
