Rink is a nostalgic 80’s student rom-com shot on authentic 16mm film, directed by AJ Eastham and in collaboration with filmmakers Wil Butterworth (Producer), Meththa Weerasinghe (Cinematographer), Ella Davidson (Editor), Mia Rubinstein (Writer & Sound Designer), and Zoe Dalton (Production Designer).

The film follows a shy teenager who finally works up the courage to ask his crush for a skate at the local roller rink. But just as sparks begin to fly, her jealous ex-boyfriend storms in with his cronies, setting the stage for a showdown under the glittering disco lights.

Your donations will help us bring the 1980s back to life! From the glow of the roller rink floor to the fashion, music, and spirit of the era. All funds raised will go directly toward:

• Purchasing 16mm film stock (to give the film its authentic vintage look)

• Designing and dressing the set to transform it into a true 1980’s roller rink

This project is more than just a student film, it’s a chance to celebrate cinema history, young student talent, and the timeless magic of first love.

If you love movies, the 80s, or just the idea of supporting emerging filmmakers, please consider donating to Rink. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to rolling out the film we’ve dreamed of making.
