Donate to help fund Jody's Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is Marc, and I am creating this fundraiser for my mother-in-law Jody Nachman, and our family as we navigate a difficult time in our lives. Last week, Jody got sick with a viral illness and suddenly fell short of breath while walking in her house. In a panic, Jody was quickly driven to the nearest hospital. She was diagnosed with atypical pneumonia and acute heart failure, a condition in which her heart fails to pump correctly. After her diagnosis, she was prescribed the appropriate medications to treat her condition, and she began her recovery at home.

Unfortunately, unknown to her doctors or us, Jody formed a blood clot on the wall inside her heart secondary to her heart failure. As a result, Jody suffered a stroke in her sleep early Wednesday morning and was found by her husband Scott unresponsive in their home. Jody was emergently air-evacuated after evaluation from EMS from Kentucky to a stroke center in Nashville, Tennessee, where she received emergency surgery to remove the blood clot from her brain. Although her surgery was successful, Jody currently suffers from deficits related to her stroke, including difficulty speaking, weakness on the right side of her body, and some cognitive challenges. Her family and friends currently surround Jody as she recovers.

As expected, even with health insurance, the costs of Jody's air evacuation, emergency surgery, and continued critical care is causing medical expenses to pile up quickly. In addition, Jody's husband and children have taken large amounts of time from work to be by her side and have spent large sums of money to stay in Nashville near the hospital as their home is two hours away. Jody will also need extensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation to regain her strength and speaking abilities.

The funds raised by this fundraiser will directly help pay for Jody's medical bills and housing for her family so they can support her during these subsequent few very important months of rehabilitation.
