Hello Everyone,

As some of you may know, my father, Fred Annis' health has been deteriorating for quite some time due to being recently diagnosed with an extremely rare autoimmune, neurological disorder called STIFF PERSON SYNDROME (SPS).

SPS affects 1 in 1 million people and is twice as rare in men than women. SPS is a progressive disorder without a cure. Treatments for symptoms and pain management are the only options at this time. SPS is a cruel disorder, that has had a devistating impact on our family. You may consider watching the Amazon Prime documentary on Céline Dion as she suffers from this very same disorder.

As my father is disabled, he is no longer able to drive and is on oxygen 24/7. As such, he hasn't been able to work since 2020, leaving the financial burden solely onto my mother, Carolyn. She frequently needs to take extended time away from work to adequately care for him. My father requires extensive daily care as well as various medications, appointments and bi-weekly treatments at the Saint John Hospital.

Our family is asking for your support during this challenging time to help with financial considerations. These include expenses for living costs, at home care, travel for tests, treatments, medications, and mobility aide devices.

If you know my father, you know that he is a lot like myself. We are not one's to ask for help. But my father has always been one to help without hesitation when someone is in need, both within the community and beyond. We know that there is nothing we can do to change what is. The future is uncertain, with many more challenges ahead. With your help and support, it will make his quality of life better for now, and that's all we can hope for.
