Hi. My name is Kia and i am raising funds for the Flamingo wards family room in Great Ormand Street Hospital for Children. My son was on Flamingo ward for 2 months after being diagnosed with DCM, requiring a heart transplant. The family room on the ward is the place where nurses and doctors will take you to have important conversations. These conversations include; your child’s progress, procedures your child may need and if you consent to it. For example a heart transplant or going on ECMO. However the room was very gloomy and as soon as you entered it felt very daunting, which made hearing bad news just a little bit harder. The funds raised will be used to buy items for the room such as; new mugs, kettle, plants and photographs to make the room feel a bit more welcoming.
