Donate to help fight period poverty in Timor Leste

Hi, I am a Year Ten student at MacKillop Catholic College and I am passionate about helping end period poverty in developing countries such as Timor. My school is doing an immersion trip to Timor Leste and is trying to raise funds to purchase period underwear to supply to the local communities. In Timor, girls in rural areas have limited access to sanitary products and have to resort to confronting and uncomfortable ways of dealing with menstruation such as rags. This can prevent girls and women from leaving their house causing girls to miss up to a week of school every month. The inability to complete school consistently can cause girls to drop out early affecting their ability to secure jobs to break the poverty cycle. According to the World Bank, period poverty affects approximately 500 million women and girls around the world. Period underwear is a great way to tackle this problem as the underwear is cost efficient, eco friendly, reusable, and hygienic. This provides a solution that will continue to support girls in Timor to receive a better education and live their life unrestricted by their menstrual cycle. Any donations, however large or small, would be immensely appreciated and will go straight towards supporting girls and women in Timor who need our help!

Period poverty: Can reusable products solve the issue?
