Donate to help fellow IPC colleague Dan Bartlett!

Hello everyone,

Dan Bartlett has been racing on water as part of Poplar, Blackwall & District Rowing Club for over 40 years, and has been its captain for the past 4.

Located only a 5-minute walk from IPC's London Office, the club is one of the oldest rowing clubs in Britain, created in 1845, and is a registered charity.

Dan rowed for England until seriously injuring his back, completely freezing his rowing career until he found a new avenue: training younger members of the club to compete in the prestigious Doggetts Coat & Badge Race, the oldest annual race in the world.

Through his coaching efforts he realised he was regaining strength and decided to compete this year for the first time in a one-person boat.

During his first season back, he has won 7 races total, and came third at the National Championships at the National Water-Sports Centre in Nottingham; second at the European Masters Championships on Lake Bled, Slovenia; and to top it all off he won the World Masters Rowing Championships in Libourne, France last week!

Always dedicated to the sport, Dan trains everyday at 4.30am so as not to take time out of his busy family and work schedule, on one of the busiest parts of the Thames often in the dark in a patched-up boat that is no wider than 60cm!

This boat is now 20 years old and showing signs of ageing through wear and tear, which means there are a fair few holes covered by duct tape! Dan has been self-funding his competitions and been borrowing boats in recent championships, so is in need of new equipment for his upcoming tournaments.

Dan's next challenge is twofold - he will be racing at the European Championships in Munich; and defending his world title in Tshwane, South Africa next year.

IPC will be sponsoring Dan and covering the cost of his racing kit. Join us in supporting Dan by donating towards his new boat and equipment.

Any size donation is welcome!
