Hello friends and family.

Approximately 2.5 years ago, Ara and Danny moved into a basement apartment in preparation for the birth of their first son, Keanu.

Within the first 3 months of living there, black mold was found and had spread from a closet, to the room that they were preparing as the nursery for their new baby. Further requests sent to both the landlord and the property manager to address this serious health concern went ignored.

At this point, Ara was due for the baby and thoughts of moving out were unrealistic in both health and financial aspects.

After the birth of Keanu, the landlord refused to aid Ara and Danny once again as concerns of physical safety were raised when the tenants living on the main floor above them began to threaten them and destroy their personal and shared property. After several incidents requiring the intervention of the police, the landlord continually neglected to address the concerns of his tenants.

As their son nears his second birthday, his paediatrician has raised concerns over his respiratory health. This is a direct result of the black mold that continues to spread throughout the basement.

One month ago, the most recent requests to remove the mold were submitted and in response, they received an eviction notice.

Now Ara and Danny face the immediate costs of lawyers fees and legal counsel, as well as the steep costs of moving and finding a new rental in the midst of a housing crisis. If it is within your capabilities, they are in dire need of financial support as they try to find a new home for their young family.
