The San Diego Ice Arena is not only the home of the San Diego Oilers; for most of us, it is OUR home. We spend countless hours each week watching our kids play hockey, coaching our kids playing hockey, and simply enjoying the fantastic atmosphere.
Unfortunately, over the last few months, some issues have taken place around the rink that has caused damage to the rink's property and are causing a financial burden on the rink itself.
In the last few months, we have witnessed hockey parents and players, both on video and in person, jamming the back door (near the snack bar) open, causing severe damage to the door and the frame. Rather than go around the nearest open door, these acts have now meant we must replace the doors in question.
On top of that, the figure skating training harness, which resides in the front patio area has been bent beyond repair, and again, we have witnessed hockey players jumping up and trying to hang from it, bending the metal.
This rink is our home, and we want to treat it as such, but we also don't want to place an unfair burden on the other programs to pay for these damages for us. So instead, we're asking for everyone's help. We're raising money to restore the door and the harness to their working functionality and then asking that everyone please treat the rink as you would your home.
Thank you for your contribution in helping us repair these damages.
