Help Us Save Eddie Our Little Lamb Fighter
We are Bella’s half way home farm animal rescue, we take in abandoned, neglected and surrendered farm animals and are a non profit organisation surviving solely on donations.
Eddie came to us after a concerned member of the public spotted him in a heartbreaking state unable to walk or feed himself, soaked in his own urine, and clearly suffering. They contacted the farm hand, who agreed to let them bring Eddie to us because they didn’t think he would survive… but if we were willing to try, he could have a chance.
When Eddie arrived, the first few nights were incredibly difficult. He couldn’t stand or move on his own and constantly ground his teeth, showing how much pain he was in. He was suffering from constipation and bloat, both of which can be life-threatening in lambs. We immediately treated the bloat, provided pain relief, and sought veterinary advice.
Our worst fears were confirmed Eddie was suffering from joint illness, a severe bacterial infection in his joints. Because treatment had been delayed, the infection had progressed badly, causing abscesses dangerously close to the knuckle tendons, meaning they cannot be safely drained. Eddie was started on the strongest antibiotics available, alongside regular pain relief, and we began daily stretching exercises to help him regain movement.
Slowly, Eddie began to fight back.
With constant care, medication, and patience, he started to stand… and then walk. He has begun gaining weight, although he is still much smaller than he should be due to early malnutrition and illness. Seeing him take those first steps has been nothing short of amazing.
We even found Eddie a little friend so he wouldn’t grow up alone, and for a short time, things finally seemed to be improving.
But now, another terrifying challenge has appeared. Eddie has started passing blood, and we fear he is battling coccidiosis, a dangerous parasite that attacks the gut and can be fatal, especially in young lambs. We have started treatment immediately, but this means more medication, more vet care, and more unexpected costs.
We hadn’t planned to take in any more large livestock due to ongoing struggles with volunteers and fundraising, but we simply couldn’t turn Eddie away when he needed help so desperately. He deserved a chance and we are determined to give him one.
We are asking for help to cover Eddie’s veterinary costs, including:
• Emergency veterinary consultations
• Strong antibiotics and ongoing medications
• Pain relief and parasite treatment
• Specialist care for his joint infection
• Nutritional support to help him grow and recover
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward Eddie’s care. If you’re unable to donate, sharing Eddie’s story would mean just as much and could help him reach the people who can support his fight.
Eddie is a tiny lamb with a huge will to live. He has already fought through so much, and we truly hope he can overcome these illnesses and grow into the happy, healthy sheep he deserves to be.
Thank you for helping us give Eddie the chance he deserves.
