Hi, my name is Kenneth and our 23 year old son, Dustin's life was suddenly turned upside down when he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 19. Dustin went from a full time college student with the hope of beginning his career with the Edmonton Police Service, to facing the debilitating effects of MS.
Before diagnosis, Dustin had a love for sports, playing both hockey and basketball, however has been unable to continue as he struggles with balance issues, brain fog, fatigue, chronic pain, among other debilitating symptoms. MS is a progressive debilitating condition that has no cure. However, there is hope in a groundbreaking stem cell treatment, Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT), that has potential to halt disease progression. This could mean getting his life back, to again enjoying the things he loves, and getting back on his career path.
Unfortunately, HSCT is very expensive, and it’s not covered by insurance. Dustin has been accepted to undergo this treatment however we need to come up with $82,000 to proceed. As we seek ways to fund this critical care, we are humbly turning to the community for support. Every donation, no matter how small, brings Dustin one step closer to reclaiming his future. If you can't donate, sharing our story means the world to us. Your network might hold the key to reaching our goal. If you have ideas for events or community fundraising, we'd love your support.
Thank you for your love, support and kindness. We are looking forward to the day we can look back on this journey and say "we made it"!
With gratitude,
Kenneth Adagala
