Desirae’s Story

July 2022

Last July, Desirae suffered a spiral break in her left hand that required surgery. The trauma from the break/surgery triggered a very rare and painful neurological disorder called CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). Her left hand is paralyzed and her equilibrium has been severely affected. At the age of 50, she is unable to drive, wears a brace to protect her hand and walks with a cane to maintain her balance, which has been emotionally difficult to say the least. She has a team of physicians and therapists doing their best to treat her, but there is no cure.

March 2024

Fast forward eight months…this disease has spread internally and has affected her digestive system and ability to eat. She has had more tests, bloodwork, loss of weight, a raw throat making it hard to swallow, therefore, was admitted to the hospital to undergo surgery to receive a feeding tube. Life can be challenging at times. There have been moments when she has felt like much of what made life beautiful is gone. But then she is reminded that the Lord has given her the opportunity to create a new kind of beautiful…and for that she is forever grateful.

Desirae is a wife to Brad of 31 years, mom to Olivia and Braeden, “Gigi” to Calum and Haven; and doodle dog mom to Nelson, Murray and Poppy.

Your support

The emotional support from family and friends, even strangers, has been beyond what they could ever imagine. It has been difficult to allow others to serve them when they are the one who have always served others. With apprehension, she laid this down at the feet of her Savior and humbly received the overwhelming love from others quietly. Now she will further allow to the request to allow others to serve our family financially and submit even more. I'm sure you can only imagine the financial stress this past year has brought her family. The medical bills are extremely overwhelming.
