Hi everyone, I’m Charlie and I’m a singer-songwriter under the alias Dear Pariah. I’ve been working under this particular name since 2012, but due to serious health issues I haven’t been able to do a studio recording since the album ‘Misc’ in 2015, funded by an Emerging Excellence Award Grant from Help Musicians. Since then I’ve released demos & live tracks to get by, but I feel these particular songs deserve more!

I live with multi system Sarcoidosis, a granulomatous disease which creates growths anywhere in the body, affecting the function of organs which can be fatal. So far I have permanent brain & lung damage, as well as lesions covering my body and creating chronic pain, fatigue and other health conditions. It’s a really hard disease to live with, but the one thing that makes me feel alive and well is being on stage, performing for you. Also nestling in my flat writing songs. No pain, no fatigue, true respite from this illness.

I have tried to get grants to fund a studio release but have sadly not been successful! There’s a lot of competition these days.

I’d like to use the money I raise to work with a producer to bring some songs that are particularly close to my heart to life as they document my struggles in hospital. The producer daily rate, plus mixing per track rate, plus mastering rate is what this money will be for.
