Donate to Help David Timpson Stay at Home

My name is Debbie Timpson, and I am organizing a GoFundMe drive for my brother-in-law, David Timpson, and his wife, Brenda. David has ALS and needs help to remain in his home.

David was recently diagnosed with familial (hereditary) amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease).

ALS is a progressive neurologic disorder that causes limb and trunk weakness, and affects talking, swallowing, and breathing. There is no cure.

Although David and Brenda have "saved for a rainy day", no one is ever ready for the significant costs associated with a fatal disease. Money raised will fund home renovations so that David can get in and out of his house. Also, to remain at home, space needs to be made to accommodate a hospital bed, wheelchair, breathing equipment, mechanical lift, etc. A second-hand wheelchair-accessible van will allow him to travel to out-of-town medical appointments.

David has worked selflessly as a United Church minister for the past 26 years. He has always championed the less fortunate and has supported many others, but it is now his turn to require help.

I hope funds can be raised to ease their financial burden, so that he and Brenda can focus their energy on dealing with this disease, while enjoying the best possible quality of life.
