Help Daddy Bong

FINAL UPDATE: It is with great sorrow to announce that my dad has joined our Creator on July 3rd. He passed away at Las Pinas Doctors Hospital surrounded with our family. We’re taking some time as a family to grieve his loss.

We know that daddy Bong touched many lives, and we’re devastated to have to break this news. He was well-loved and will be missed by many.

Thank you so much to all who have donated, visited my dad, shared my posts and praying for our family. It has helped alleviate the burden our family is facing during this difficult time. Your support is very much appreciated. God bless to all.

********************************************

On behalf of my family, we are reaching out for your kindness and generosity to help us to raise funds to cover my dad’s hospital bills.

My dad is known to many as Daddy Bong. He is a funny, caring, loving and thoughtful husband and dad. Most of my closest friends and my siblings’ friends also call him dad because he treats them as his own. He is compassionate and generous with his time and effort to help anyone in need. He gives help in whatever ways he can.

My dad suffered from chronic kidney disease in 2008. He was successfully matched with my cousin and received a kidney transplant in 2009.

He has been faithfully taking medications for his kidney maintenance since then that costs approximately Php 25,000 a month (approx CA $600), not including labs and doctor’s visits. He had multiple medical emergencies every year due to his condition. These emergencies have taken a toll on his overall health.

Last December 2023, his kidney function went down to less than 15% and needed to be on hemodialysis treatment. The cost of this treatment plus medicines amount to Php 35,000 - PWD discount deducted (approx CA $830) a month.

On the night of May 31st, my dad was complaining that he’s having difficulty breathing. My mom rushed him to ER. Upon arrival, first responders performed CPR on him right away because he has no pulse. We’ve been told that he had a cardiac arrest and was revived. He was having seizures soon after and was intubated. He got transferred to ICU then suffered a second cardiac arrest. He was revived again. He is currently in comatose state.

Since June 2nd, he has been showing signs of improvement. His vitals have been stable. He is fighting! He has been transferred to a regular room since then. He underwent a CT Scan on June 4 to see if there was significant damage to his brain. The doctor said the result showed a very tiny blood clot that probably caused his coma, but didn’t have signs of serious damage. He has a chance for recovery if he wakes up from his coma before his body starts to deteriorate. He will undergo a 2D Echo test on June 5 to check his heart function and determine if it will be safe for him to undergo hemodialysis treatment, as he needs it. Not getting this treatment will cause serious complications to his condition.

He has been in the hospital since May 31st. We have already settled the ER charges amounting to approximately Php 80,000 (approx CA $1,900) for the few hours he stayed there. Our running bill is at Php 324,432 (approx CA $7,724) as of June 4th. We have made arrangements to transfer him to a more inexpensive room to alleviate the increasing cost of his hospital bills. This transfer required us for a partial payment, which we already provided.

We are praying hard that he continues fighting and wakes up. We’re currently working on asking for financial assistance from government institutions and the hospital’s social services, as the bills go up by the minute, and we are unsure how long he will be staying at the hospital.

Because of my dad’s medical expenses every month, my parents have exhausted all their savings. Me and my 2 siblings have been helping them with their medical expenses and every day needs. But our remaining funds are not enough to cover the running hospital bills.

Any support is very much appreciated! Please keep Daddy Bong in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your unwavering support and love.

For direct bank transfers (PH and CAD accounts), please send me a message.

With sincere gratitude,

Hershey Estrella

***I will continuously post an update, so everyone can keep track of what is happening to him. ***

UPDATE:

June 5: We have received daddy’s 2D Echo result. His EF is at 65%. A normal heart's ejection fraction is between 55 and 70 percent. His doctor gave the go signal for hemodialysis. He will be transferring to ICU to get the treatment.

UPDATE 2:

Daddy was transferred to ICU on the night of June 6th and underwent hemodialysis treatment. He’s required to undergo this treatment for 4 times a week. His vitals are mostly stable. There was an increase of blood pressure and he was given medication for that. The doctor said that he saw another abnormality in his brain. They can’t figure if it’s blood clot or mass. He was referred to a neurologist. We are still waiting for a neurologist to see him.

On behalf of my family, thank you so much for your support! We are grateful to everyone who has donated, shared our post, and praying for our family. May God bless you a thousand-fold.

We are still raising funds to help cover daddy’s hospital bills. Please message me for direct deposits or e-transfers.

UPDATE 3:

JUNE 10: As you know, I started this fundraiser to help cover Daddy Bong’s hospital bills. The current hospital that he’s staying has closed his account because we have not paid their required partial payment amounting to Php 300,000 (approx CA $7,000). We have spoke with the hospital’s billing and accounting office and they won’t allow to continue services and medications if we don’t settle it first. Since June 3rd, we have been paying all of his medications and treatments in cash due to the hospital not allowing it to accumulate on Daddy’s account because his account is closed. We have used the donations and our personal funds to cover these expenses and made partial payments.

We have been requesting for a hospital transfer and the doctor just gave us a go signal. We are just waiting for approval from the other hospital he’s transferring to.

June 1-9 hospital bill: Php 423,280 (approx CA $9,900)
Total expenses paid outside of current hospital bill:
June 3-9: Php 64,314.74 (approx CA $1,500)
May 31 hospital bill ER: approx Php 77,000 (CA $1,800)

As of June 9, we have received:
$3,240 from Bank transfers and Gcash
$1,390 from Go Fund Me

Thank you so much to all who have donated, visited my dad, shared my posts and praying for our family. Your support is very much appreciated!
