My name is Nathan Lewis and I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of Cynthia Lewis.
My Aunt is the most wonderful person to me, and to anyone that has the pleasure of knowing her. She is selfless, and has the BIGGEST heart. It does not matter who you are, or if she knows you, she would take the shirt off her back to help someone in need. To see her like this is absolutely heart breaking, she does not deserve this.
My Aunt has dedicated most of her life to helping others. She worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years.
Her spouse became ill and eventually passed away ìn 2015. Unfortunately, this would only be the beginning of a decade of struggles. Medical bills and not being able to work while caring for her spouse made it necessary to cash in her pensions early and eventually remortgage her home. None of this would have been an issue if she was eventually able to return to work. However, after her spouses passing she was struck with illness herself in 2017. Experiencing several septic episodes resulting in 5 major surgeries, and multiple lengthy hospital stays.
Auntie had not seen her home since January, 2023. Damage done by severe infections has caused extreme muscle deterioration, chronic pain, and severe gastrointestinal disease and has left her with an ostomy tube for water and small amounts of tube nutrition. She is completely bedridden, with a rather grim prognosis, and unable to participate in activities in the long-term care facility she's been paying for.
She needs around the clock care and medications that cost up to 2,500 per month.
To help pay for her costs she made the decision to sell her home and survive by credit once her savings were depleted. However, to make matters even more dire.
She is unable to access the funds from the sale due to a family member of her deceased spouse suing for proceeds from the sale after nearly a decade after her spouses death. Unfortunetly, my Aunt has no choice but to battle in court for her home that she has paid for by her self for the last decade.
This adds legal fees to her already growing debt. She now faces possible eviction from her nursing home and the probability of not being able to afford the medications she desperately needs. She is an amazing woman who does not deserve the stress she is under right now.
All donations will be used to help pay for her medications, nursing home expenses and outstanding legal fees. Anything at all will help and would be greatly appreciated by our whole family.
