DONATE TO HELP CURE BRAIN CANCER - Char’s shave
Hello, my name is Charlotte, and I have a Father named Trevor. My Father was diagnosed with renal cell, clear cell haemorrhagic carcinoma when I was 18 years old. When I was 28 years old, my Father was diagnosed with a metastasised pituitary gland cancer which is growing and tracking down his seventh cranial nerve. Whilst my Father’s brain cancer is technically a secondary source of his renal cell carcinoma, in a strange and sad turn of events, my Father lost his Father at the age of 33 due to a glioma (what my Father coins ‘a true brain tumour’). So, in many ways, my family has been touched by various forms and strains of brain cancer (also on my maternal side but that is another story) and let me tell you, it is nasty. My Father has undergone the greatest change, treatment regime and complications from brain cancer, more than any other (renal & did I forget to mention, prostate - I know, my Father is a survivor). He has double vision, lost his independence because he can’t drive anymore, his balance, his emotional regulation, hormonal regulation, his strength, his smell, his taste … amongst other things.
So, why the long paragraph? Well, in a show of support and in honour of the strong fraternal lineage I come from, I am going to shave my head for my 30th birthday in an attempt to raise funds to go towards the good work of the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation (CBCF). CBCF is the leading organisation for brain cancer research in Australia. CBCF are hoping to dramatically improve survival outcomes of those diagnosed with brain cancer and also improve their quality of life while they live with the disease.
Thank you for reading this far, appreciate whatever $$ amount you can donate.
With gratitude,
Charlotte (& no doubt Trevor) Goodman
