Hi, I'm Sally Pettipher, Chief Executive of Cornish Pirates Rugby Club in Penzance, Cornwall.
The recent storms have left our beloved club in a tough spot.
On January 8th, Storm Goretti caused severe damage to The Mennaye, forcing us to demolish the main grandstand. Our scoreboard, electrics, and grounds maintenance equipment were all affected.
Just a week later, Storm Ingrid tore apart the opposite stand, adding to our challenges. While insurance will cover some of the costs, there are significant uninsured losses that we must address.
We are tenants of Penzance and Newlyn Rugby Club and thankfully insurance will pay for a lot of this damage, but not all.
Playing "at home" has become impossible for the time being, and the costs of relocating matches to Camborne, including necessary upgrades and lost ticket revenue, are mounting. We’ve already faced a difficult season with the sudden death of a consortium member that left us emotionally and financially vulnerable.
We are reaching out to our community for support during this critical time. Your generous donations will help us rebuild and continue to provide the rugby experience our community and visiting supporters love.
Every contribution counts NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL, and we are deeply grateful for your support.
Thank you
Sally
