Hello, my name is George Abraham. For the past 6 years I have raised, trained and worked beside Oakley. She was a water rescue dog. One of if not the best! She crossed the rainbow bridge unexpectedly at the age of 6 1/2 years old this past Sunday. In her years on earth she made 3 human water rescues and helped unknown amount of people throughout the world through her social media and volunteer work. Oakley traveled to Milan, Italy at 4 years old to train and receive certification from the Italian School of Water Rescue Dogs (SICS). Oakley was 1 of only 2 dogs from the USA to ever achieve this level of certification. She was an inspiration to many. When she wasn’t working in the water, she was doing therapy dog work for schools, colleges, hospitals etc. She has been featured in magazines, newspapers, online magazines and news stations around the world. A simple good search of “ that NePa Newfie” or “Oakley water rescue dog” will show you many stories and videos of this amazing dogs feats! She has made 5 helicopter helocast jumps, deployed from jet ski’s, paddle boards and Coast Guard fast response boats. We have had many requests from family and followers to donate. So we created this as a way to fund her legacy. We would like to purchase a water rescue boat and name it for her. Before Oakleys untimely passing we had planned to do a fundraiser for a rescue patrol boat so that we could actively patrol our local state park lakes. Please help us to honor Oakley and to continue our goal of protecting our community while they enjoy themselves swimming. We are a 100% volunteer group of lifeguards. Our nonprofit The American Academy of Canine Water Rescue teaches dogs to help lifeguards perform rescues as force multipliers in the water.
