I'm running the Edinburgh Marathon this May to raise money for Bookmark Reading Charity. Any donation you can give will support their important work and help them to make a difference in children's lives.

Bookmark is working to close the literacy gap for children in the UK. They’re a charity that connects volunteers with children who are struggling with reading, offering one-to-one support through a flexible online platform. Their goal is to give every child the same opportunity to discover the joy of reading and give them an equal start in life.

Around 1 in 4 children leave primary school without reaching the expected reading standard, and the majority of those falling behind come from disadvantaged backgrounds. COVID-19 and lockdown further widened these existing gaps, and literacy levels still haven’t returned to where they were pre-pandemic. Literacy, communication, and storytelling are all things I’m passionate about. Many of my hobbies, my degree, and my job are built around these foundations and wouldn’t exist without them. In a world saturated with information and misinformation, these skills are also essential for thinking critically and staying informed with the truth.
