Urgent plea! Help Claudia save her shelters and 250+ of her dogs.

For 18+ years Claudia has been saving street dogs in Bali. In that time, she has saved 1000s of dogs that otherwise would never have had a chance at life.

She runs the biggest dog rescue in Bali by herself with barely any donations. She has 3 no-kill shelters and 250+ dogs in her care, many she has had their whole lives since they were puppies. Her days begin at 6 AM, cooking and feeding the dogs inside the shelter, and 80 others outside on the street. She makes daily vet visits for the ones that are sick and hospitalized.

She eats one meal a day at 10 PM after nighttime street feeding, then goes home to 8 other dogs, 2 permanently paralyzed. She cleans up after them, feeds them, and by the time she goes to bed it’s usually 12:30 AM — then starts all over again at 6 AM. She doesn’t live in a nice villa like many other “rescuers” in Bali. She lives in an old local Balinese house with barely any furniture. Every dollar she has goes toward the dogs.

She has dumped her whole life savings into this and is in debt with family and banks. Her account at local vets is constantly on the verge of being frozen every month due to unpaid amounts (usually around $2,000).

She is facing eviction from one shelter housing 120 dogs due to neighbors complaining about noise and smell. In Bali, leases are paid yearly, and what she has already paid she will not get back.

She has no safety net. Her health is failing. She is almost at retirement age. If something were to happen to her, her life’s work dies with her. Too many dogs are still on the street, shelters are overrun and full, She has no one to take over, and her dogs will almost certainly be put down.
