I'm walking 100,000 steps for international aid
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of British Red Cross and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
currently at 35,000 steps! i’d be lying if i said my feet aren’t blistered and aching but i will finish this one way or another! thank you so much to all those that have donated it genuinly means so much! as i’ve been walking i’ve been thinking more and more about politics and the news and it really has solidified the belief in me that we shouldn’t be defined by our home country but more importantly as human being. every single one of are so intricately connected in ways we can’t even fathom and i think we have a tendency to forget that at the end of the day we all feel joy and sorrow. we all experience great hardship and immense achievement. we sleep under the same sky and breathe the same air.
but one of the main takeaways for me is how incredibly fortunate we are. we get to worry about upcoming exams. we get to concern ourselves about what outfit to wear at the weekend. we get to stand in a warm shower and have food in the fridge. i believe supporting the civilians in Gaza isn’t a matter of a political agenda but more recognising that this war has become a genocide. Gaza had a population of 600,000 people. 50,000 of these people have been killed in the war. A recent oxford study concluded that the death of one person affects 9 people but i believe that number is staggeringly higher. Statistically speaking this means every citizen of gaza has lost someone due to senseless killing.
I started this walk on a bright spring day with the air a perfect temperature, my backpack full of food and water and footwear perfect for a long walk. I am doing this walk entirely out of choice. Many have none of these luxuries.
With food becoming more and more scarce in gaza, many have to walk 10 km to access bread for themselves and their young children. With no shoes, food, medicine or water. They do not choose to do this, this instead is necessary for survival. They do not walk through gardens and parks teeming with life. They walk through the ruins of what once was their home.
The people in Gaza need your help. And this is going to come across as abrasive but you don’t need another pair of shoes or another coat if you have a perfectly functional one at home. Please consider donating, £2 or £20 every penny makes a difference. Free Gaza.
