In late July, Christy was diagnosed with Stage 3B/4 breast cancer (inflammatory breast cancer and invasive ductal carcinoma). Treatments began just two weeks later and this journey will last at least a year. Christy is thankful for the health insurance provided by her employer, Kirkwood Schools, but many expenses not covered, including copays, prescriptions, and other incidentals. The Whites also have 3 kids in high school, one heading off to college next year, and have missed days of work. Christy is hoping to take a trip to MD Anderson in Houston, a world leader for inflammatory breast cancer, for a second opinion, possible treatments, and/or a possible clinical trial. Christy and her family are not the best about asking for help, but we are! We don’t want a lack of funds to prevent her from getting the very best care possible.
