Help Thimran Get the Medical Help He Needs

Hi, my name is Lynn and I am collecting money on behalf of a child in Egypt who has a rare medical condition. PROS - PIK3CA related overgrowth syndrome. It is the same disease my son has. There is treatment available but it is not currently available in Egypt. The mother of the child is widowed, her husband passing in 2019, and little Thimran was born in January 2020. She also cares for her two other young children. This money is to help ease her struggles with travel and medical treatment. On top of working, she also goes door to door to raise money.

I have been in talks with the mother since November 2022. We have talked with doctors all over the world, from NY, Paris, Rome, Boston, Cincinnati, Seattle and so far she has yet to receive help.

There is a drug available, alpelsib, now FDA approved in the US as Vijoice for the treatment for this disease. We have worked with the drugmaker, Novartis, and figured it would be best if a doctor in Egypt could apply for compassionate use of the drug. After a long search of bombarding doctors with emails to help, we found one who has applied. It takes Thimran's mother 3 hours by train to go see this doctor and she has to pay $100 every time she sees them. Meanwhile, she has to leave her two other young children unattended at home. She will probably have to move to receive treatment. The child will also need to get more corrective surgery, as he is unable to wear shoes and has trouble with mobility. If she gets denied treatment in Egypt she will go to Philadelphia Children's. They have given her a quote of $9,000. This is just for initial evaluations, not the medication. Although going to the US may not be helpful you cannot blame a mother for trying every possible option to help her child.

Unfortunately, GoFundMe, Paypal, Venmo, etc. are not supported in Egypt. So she set up a bank account where she can be wired money. Unfortunately, it costs $40 plus 4% to wire money. So it is best if I collect the money here and then pay the hospital directly or do a lump sum wire to her.
