Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out for help for my beautiful dog, Casper. A few weeks ago Casper was struggling to jump up on the sofa and climb stairs, so I took him to the vets and they said that it was luxating patella and gave him some medication to relieve the pain. After a few days of taking it and rest Casper seemed to be back to his old self. On Thursday 28th Aug I dropped him off at my friends (my dog sitter) as I’d booked a week away with my mum. At the time, he seemed okay—he was walking fine, and was able to jump up on the sofa I explained everything to my dog sitter, and gave her the metacam medication just incase he seemed to be struggling again whilst I was away.

Unfortunately, on Saturday 30th August, Casper woke up dragging his back leg and struggling to walk. His sitter rushed him straight to the vet, where he has been admitted since. The vets believe he has a slipped disc and will likely need urgent surgery to give him the best chance of recovery. He is currently being kept in on strong pain medication, and on Monday he will undergo a CT scan, followed by possible surgery depending on the results.

This has all come as a huge shock, and to make things worse, I recently fell victim to a scam and had to change all my bank details. Because of this, Casper’s insurance was cancelled without my knowledge—I only found out when I tried to make a claim. I thought he was covered, so I never saved for an emergency like this.

I love Casper with all my heart, and I want to do everything I can to help him walk and live happily again. The cost of his treatment is overwhelming, so I’m reaching out for any support you may be able to give. Whether it’s a donation, big or small, or even just sharing our story, it means the world to us.
