Hi Friends and Family,

On Friday Oct 20, 2023, our sister Carrie woke up with chest pains and went to the ER after work. After many tests and scans, the doctors found a large mass on her left lung.

On October 23, the doctors and specialists told us that the mass had probably been there her whole life and had been growing to the point where it has now become a problem. They also decided that the mass was too big to remove without damaging the lung and that Carrie would need to have surgery to have her left lung removed. Surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, October 24th.

The doctors are hopeful that the surgery will go well and that she will be able to lead a full and healthy life with one lung. However, the surgery is intense and recovery will take months. Carrie will need to focus on her recovery and will not be able to go back to work for several months.

The funds raised through this fundraiser will go directly to Carrie so that she can pay her bills, buy food, and manage her finances while she is out of work. Although her health insurance will pay the majority of her medical bills, there will be costs associated with recovery that she will be responsible for.

If you know Carrie, you love Carrie! She is a light in a dark world and is always willing to show kindness to others. She has the best sense of humor and always goes out of her way to make others feel valued.
