My dear family and friends.

My darling Carolyn has developed dementia which has recently progressed to a diagnosed "severe dementia" conditon and approaching "end of life." After more than two years of caring on my own for Carolyn, it has become necessary to take on professional in-home care.

This is exceeding our monthly income and has already significantly drained savings and assets.

A position we never expected to be in; nonetheless, here we are.

If you are able to help us in any way, we would be eternally grateful.

Dear Family and Friends,

I am truly overwhelmed and humbled by your exceptional generosity and kindness to us for Carolyn's care.

We experienced a significant change in Carolyn's condition this past week which prompted the addition of a hospital bed in the living room and increased nursing visits.

Very hard to face for the caregiver, but I understand that is for Carolyn's safety and comfort. "Surrendering" to the care of others who are trained in dementia care and have extensive experience in recognizing what is needed and best for their patients, is a vital part of learning to be the best caregiver that you can be for your loved one.

Again, my heartfelt thanks for all your wonderful support and compassion for Carolyn.
