Update: Day 4. (From Glenda, Caelen’s mom)
So many changes so fast!
They had Caelen sitting up in a special bed that converts to a chair yesterday for a few hours and today they delivered his wheel chair. He’s able to sit his bed up and that makes him more comfortable. The Physios were hopeful to get him into his chair and customize the fit, but he’s had a very busy eventful few days … so maybe tomorrow :) They’ve removed a lot of the lines that were in him, including the drains in his back at the surgery site and changed his medication… he’s going for another MRI & CT on his head & neck and some X-rays on his left ankle as they suspect it may be broken. He will remain in his soft collar to support his neck for 6 weeks to allow the fracture there to heal. He’s slowly starting to eat a bit. The nursing staff on the spinal ICU have been really good so far which makes it a bit easier:)
Lots of information, lots of unknown…
The amount of love & support we have received has been overwhelming and adds a whole other level of emotion to this situation. Caelen has a long, difficult road ahead but with everyone’s help and healing vibes, he will persevere and see progress and success.
Little things that feel so big! I’m so very grateful for everyone… so indescribably grateful that Caelen is still with us…. ❤️❤️

*****
On June 8th our much loved cousin (2nd 3rd 4th) nephew (and many other titles) Caelen Holling was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident that has left him paralyzed from the chest down. This life-altering event has completely changed his world. Caelen now faces a long and challenging road to recovery, beginning with extensive hospitalization and ongoing rehabilitation.

A GoFundMe page has already been created to support his mom, Glenda, who is doing everything she can to be by his side, including managing the many travel and living expenses that come with this journey. Glenda is 100% focusesd on her boy, and her life as well has been changed.

We’re also raising funds to help Caelen directly — to cover medical needs, specialized equipment, and the many unexpected costs that come with adjusting to a new way of life. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference for Caelen as his strength (and stubbornness ) help him navigate this new life.
