On Saturday, June 3rd, Brandon was in a horrific hiking accident that could have claimed his life. He was hiking in Colorado with his girlfriend, Sophia, on Judd Falls which he grew up exploring multiple times. A boulder underneath him gave way and he only had two choices which he had to act fast on. He could either go down with the boulder or fall back so he fell back. Brandon had fallen 300 feet down the steep and rocky cliff into a base of a rushing river and was swept down the rapids for several hundreds of feet. There was only one area on the bank where he could pull himself out of the water and save himself before the rapids started again. Brandon’s girlfriend used her SOS service on her phone to call for help. Once search and rescue team arrived, they had to use a pully system for a 300-foot uphaul to the top and then a four-wheeler drive down to the waiting helicopter. The whole rescue took over three hours. Brandon was in the ICU for 3 days and step-down room for 5 more days before being discharged. Even though he was discharged from the hospital he has a long road of recovery ahead of him. Brandon has suffered a collapsed lung, broken arm, fractured upper jaw, multiple teeth knocked out, multiple fractured cervical vertebras, multiple fractured ribs, dislocation of shoulder, fractured humerus, and multiple lacerations all over his body. He still requires multiple surgeries that include his face/oral, shoulder and hand. He will also need intensive rehabilitation (physical and occupation therapy) to have a full recovery that will take around a year. The funds that are raised will go towards all the medical bills for the hospital stay, upcoming multiple surgeries, medical visits, and therapy in the coming months. Brandon and his family would like to thank everyone who has and continues to pray for his recovery.
