Hi, my name is Linda Terry. Judy Griggs Brookman, and her husband Bill been our very good friends for fifty plus years.

Almost 6 weeks ago Bill was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia, and was given 8 weeks to live without treatment. After the family processed this news they decided to go to UVA for a second opinion.

For the next three weeks Bill, with Judy by his side stayed in Charlottesville with his health declining quickly. He had little to no immunity, as well as an infection that was difficult to target.

Bill has been in Roanoke Memorial since last Thursday fighting infection and trying to get his blood levels to an acceptable level to take his much needed chemotherapy was approved as of last Friday.

The treatment will hopefully begin by tomorrow. Since the leukemia diagnosis Judy has taken Family Medical Leave; receiving no income as she couldn’t work.

About three years ago Bill became Ill with Covid, followed up with a kidney infection that left him septic, and he almost lost his life fighting that..

These years of illness have taken a toll on their finances and those of us who have endured chemotherapy know those drugs are insanely expensive. Any donation you can spare will be greatly appreciated.
